Hot Chicken Sandwich Dip

Day 1 of my new limited series: Comfort Dips & Wine! This is a spin-off of my viral ‘Wine & Dip’ series, where I turn your favourite comfort food, into DIP! AKA - I ‘dipify’ things. This Hot Chicken Sandwich Dip is incredible, and honestly, might be hard to beat! With all the beautiful sweet, salty and SPICY flavours from your favourite hot chicken sandwich, plus the perfectly creamy and cheesy dip texture, you’re left with a highly addictive appetizer that will be the hit of any party, or the best solo dinner of all time!

The Pairing

I recommend pairing this with an off-dry Riesling, my go-to wine style for anything sweet and spicy! The hint of sweet matches the sweetness from the hot honey and helps to temper all that spice, and the lower alcohol content works super well with that chili spice! Have you ever thrown alcohol on a fire? NOT what you want happening in your mouth :)

Germany makes some of the best riesling in the world, and this one by Dr. Loosen is a classic. It’s beautifully refreshing, approachable, and it’s accessible. In other words, it’s affordable and an easy one to find no matter where you are!

Day 1 of my Comfort Dips & Wine Series, where I DIPIFY your favourite comfort food! This Hot Chicken Sandwich Dip has all of the flavour and comfort you would find in your favourite hot chicken sandwich, but in a cheesy, creamy, absolutely crushable dip! There are a few essentials for this recipe: The perfect dip base ratio of sour cream, cream cheese, and mayonnaise, perfectly seasoned hot chicken (ideally from your favourite hot chicken sandwich restaurant) and chili crisp oil! The crispy seedy bits take this to a whole a level! My favourite by Seven Spice ltd. is linked below!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl then transfer to your favourite dip baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes or until heated through.
  3. Top with more shredded cheddar and drizzle with chili oil (leave out the 'crisps' at this point so they don't burn), then bake again for another 5 minutes or until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  4. Remove from the oven and top with chili crisp, hot honey, and sweet pickle slices (optional)
  5. Serve with toasted sourdough and a chilled glass of off-dry riesling for the BEST dip dinner!

Notes

For the hot chicken, you can either make it yourself OR (highly recommended) pick some up from your favourite hot chicken sandwich place! This guarantees delicious flavour and is so easy!
