RECIPE
Ingredients:
3 tbsp butter
2 thin “sandwich cut” steaks OR thinly sliced steak of choice (seriously any cut works)
Sea salt (for steak)
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1/2 large yellow onion, chopped
1/2 large green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 cup cream cheese
1/2 cup full fat sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 1/2 cups grated Provolone cheese (+ another 1/2 cup for the top)
Salt and pepper to taste
Hoagie buns
More butter for buns
Instructions:
Heat pan to medium high heat and melt butter. Salt steak on both sides and then sear for around 1 minute. Flip and sear the other side. Remove from heat. Let rest for around 5 minutes and then chop into tiny pieces.
Turn heat to low medium and add garlic, onion, and peppers to the pan. Season with salt and pepper and saute until softened and browning (5-10 minutes).
Add cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, steak, and cheese to the pan and stir to incorporate.
Transfer dip to an oven safe dish and top with grated provolone.
Slice hoagie buns into desired size/thickness and butter one or both sides.
Broil both the dip (to melt the cheese) and the buns (to toast) on high for 2-3 minutes (check regularly to not burn the buns).
Enjoy immediately with a big glass of Cabernet Sauvignon!
