RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 2 thin “sandwich cut” steaks OR thinly sliced steak of choice (seriously any cut works)

  • Sea salt (for steak)

  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed

  • 1/2 large yellow onion, chopped

  • 1/2 large green bell pepper, chopped

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup full fat sour cream

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 1/2 cups grated Provolone cheese (+ another 1/2 cup for the top)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Hoagie buns

  • More butter for buns

Instructions:

  • Heat pan to medium high heat and melt butter. Salt steak on both sides and then sear for around 1 minute. Flip and sear the other side. Remove from heat. Let rest for around 5 minutes and then chop into tiny pieces.

  • Turn heat to low medium and add garlic, onion, and peppers to the pan. Season with salt and pepper and saute until softened and browning (5-10 minutes).

  • Add cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, steak, and cheese to the pan and stir to incorporate.

  • Transfer dip to an oven safe dish and top with grated provolone.

  • Slice hoagie buns into desired size/thickness and butter one or both sides.

  • Broil both the dip (to melt the cheese) and the buns (to toast) on high for 2-3 minutes (check regularly to not burn the buns).

  • Enjoy immediately with a big glass of Cabernet Sauvignon!
